What is altitude sickness? What is the indication of altitude
sickness?
Indications of altitude sickness: Tibet is defined as the
high altitude area, where the oxygen availability is 20% lower
than sea level. It is usual that most people will experience
symptoms at different levels at that high elevation. Symptoms
include headache, nausea, dizziness, fatigue, shortness of
breath, loss of appetite and nosebleed. Altitude sickness
is a kind of natural phenomenon of human body in adapting
for climate changes, so it¡¯s unnecessary to be excessively
anxious, in order not to aggravate the symptoms. Visitors
should be optimistic and healthy psychologically, as excessive
anxiety and lack of sleep can both lead to the aggravation
of altitude sickness. The symptoms will usually decrease in
severity gradually during the acclimatization. Severe symptoms
can be cured by appropriate treatment as taking in oxygen,
anodyne, tranquillizer, and so on. Before going to Tibet,
you can take some anti-AMS medicine, like the orpine and table-medicine
£¬to take precautions against potential sickness. On arriving
at Tibet, it¡¯s recommended to drink more water, take sufficient
rest and eat some fruit. Acute activity is harmfu l for your
health. The optimal psychology is to take altitude sickness
as a challenging experience!
