Why does foreigner need to transact the permission
of traveling in Tibet ?
Because of the special tradition and historic site and protection
the ecosystem , and also because of the communication and service
facilities and reception capability , Chinese government regulate
that foreigners and travelers from Taiwan and Chinese people
living abroad need to transact the permission of foreigners
traveling in Tibet which is charged by the traveling office
of Tibet autonomous region before they go to Tibet , and at
the same time Chinese government also regulate that foreign
correspondent and diplomat cannot go into Tibet as traveler
.
Who needs to get the permission of traveling
in Tibet ?
1 negative Chinese identification card ----- traveler from
Taiwan
2 negative Chinese passport ----- traveler get foreign passport
Explanatory note : If Chinese people living abroad who do
not get the Chinese passport they will need to transact the
permission of traveling in Tibet . Now we have abolished the
regulation that traveler from Hongkong and Macao should get
the permission of traveling in Tibet . Traveler from Hongkong
and Macao who gets the Hongkong and Macao passport or the
return card of dweller of Hongkong and Macao ( transacted
before 1998 , term of validity 10 years ) or interior pass
can go to Tibet directly .
The relevant regulation of foreigner traveling in Tibet :
According to the rules of Chinese traveling office, foreign
travelers and travelers from Taiwan and Chinese people living
abroad ( except Hongkong and Macao dweller who gets local
passport or return card ) can not travel themselves , they
must travel in the term of organized group . All organized
foreign traveling group should apply for the permission of
traveling in Tibet from the government of Tibetan SAR Shanghai
office by the authorized tourism agency .
How to transact the permission of foreigner
traveling in Tibet ?
Visa : foreign traveler should transact the visa from local
Chinese embassy , except the countries which have allied free-visa
convention with China .
Application for the permission of traveling in Tibet : please
give your basal information (including name , nationality
, age , gender , job , passport number ) and traveling line
in Tibet and traveling time in Tibet and traveling thought
and phone number to local tourism agency or to the government
of Tibetan S.A.R local office directly , and give the duplicate
of your visa and the first page of your passport to local
office by fax or email , you will receive the relevant procedure
of traveling in Tibet in 3 or 4 working days . After receiving
the duplicate of visa and passport , the office will sent
out the permission of foreigner traveling in Tibet . Although
it only need 2 days to examine and verify and sent out the
permission , but because of the book procedure of ticket and
hotel and guide and bus , please transact the application
