Situated in the southern part of Ruoqiang County,
with Qinghai Province on the east and Tibet on the
south ,the nature reserve covers an area of 45,000
square kilometers, the biggest in China .Established
in 1983 and surrounded by high mountains 5,000 meters
above sea level ,it is cut off basin with an average
elevation of 4,000 meters .
In the year of 1985 the state council listed it
as state level nature there are mainly two kinds
of things should be protected by the state : firstly
the various kinds of wild animals ;secondly the
primitive eco-environment. The primitive eco-environment
including high mountains , desert , high mountain
lake Karst landscape and the various kinds of wild
plants which lived the high pleatue .it is not only
the best place to make scientific research about
but also is the paradise for many wild animals live
here . wild animals in the reserve are numerous;
many are seldom seen elsewhere in the country .They
include wild yak ,Tibetan wild ass, gazelle, Tibetan
antelope ,argali, bharal, snow leopard ,lynx and
brown bear as well as vulture ,snow cock and bar-headed
goose. the ecosystem in the nature reserve is both
quite complete and primeval ,and so is valuable
in scientific research . |
