Flight or train to Lhasa
In the afternoon rest and acclimatize. Overnight in 3 star hotel.
Day02 Sightseeing in Lhasa
In the morning visit Potala Potala, which was originally constructed
in 637 by Songtsen Gampo, the first king of the united Tibet, and
later expanded and served as the winter residence of the Dalai Lamas
as well as the religious-political nexus of traditional Tibet. In
the afternoon visit Jokhang temple, the center of the Tibetan Buddhism
and the sacred land of Buddhist followers where innumerable pilgrims
come for worship everyday. The temple, built in 647, is the earliest
wood-and-masonry structure still existing in Tibet. Surrounding
the Jokhang Temple is the bustling Barkhor Market place which is
the religious and social focus of Lhasa. Overnight in 3 star hotel.
Day03 Sightseeing Lhasa
In the morning visit Drepung monastery the sacred land of Gelukpa
sect., which was created in 1416 and the second, third and fourth
Dalai Lama once resided in. In the afternoon visit Sera monastery,
which was created in 1419 and has always been an important Buddhist
seminary. As rose are planted everywhere in the monastery, it is
also called Ħ°the court of wild roseĦħ. Today still 200 lamas live
in there. Overnight in 3 star hotel.
Day04 Lhasa- Yamdrok Tso Lake- Gyantse
Today is a drive crossing over a colorful Yamdrok Lake. Kambala
Pass at 4,794 m and Karola Pass at 5,010m. In Gyantse visit the
Kumbum Stupa and Phalkor Monastery. Overnight in 2 star hotel.
Day05 Gyantse - Shigatse
After breakfast drive to Shigatse, the second largest town in Tibet
and the capital of Tsang. There visit Tashilunpo monastery, the
seat of the Panchen Lama built in 1447 and one of the six grand
monasteries in Tibet. Overnight in 3 star hotel.
Day06 Shigatse-Shegar
After breakfast we continue on our drive to Shegar, also called
Ħ°new Tringri, and crossing over the Gyatsola Pass at 5,220 m, which
is the highest en route to Shegar, 240 km. Overnight in simple guesthouse.
Day07 Shegar-Mt. Everest Base Camp ,
overnightin simple Guesthouse
Although itĦŻs only 100 km from Shegar to Everest Base Camp(5200m),
it takes you about 4 hours to reach there, because the road is bad,
overnight at Simple Rongbuck monastery Guesthouse. One room would
be shared by a few people.
Day08: Rongbuk ¨C Zhangmu
Get across the 5,000 m high Nyalmo Tong La, With clear view the
Shisha Pangma high over 8,000 m on one side and the other side the
enormous Gaurisankar ranges stretch forward in the distance. Drive
over the Thang-La Pass (5214 m) to Nylam. Afterwards visit the meditation
cave of Milarepa. Along the zigzag road we drive down Nyalam (3.600
m) gradually and leave the landscape of the high plateau behind
us and see the Himalayas covered in the sea of clouds. Overnight
at Zhangmu Hotel
Day09: Zhangmu ¨C Katmandu
Cross the border between Tibet and Nepal to Katmandu, capital of
Nepal. The city lies in the southern foot of the Himalaya Range.
The geographic location and the people here are quite different
from those of Tibetan cities. Surely find many new things. Overnight
at Katmandu
Day10: Katmandu
Visit the historic centers of three king's cities of Katmandu, Patan
and Bhaktapur or a visit to the sanctuaries of Pashupatinath, Bodhnath
and Swayambunath. Overnight at Katmandu
